大侦探对大明星
史蒂夫·马丁,蕾切尔·沃德,卡尔·雷纳还记得《阿甘正传》一片中，阿甘与美国总统握手的电影特效吗？其栩栩如生的效果，曾在全世界引起了一阵风潮。其实早在此片之前，导演Carl Reiner就曾经尝试将当代喜剧演员们的演出、与过去知名演员演出的老片，剪接在一起。因此造就了这今天所说的部创意十足的爆笑喜剧片《大侦探对大明星(Dead Men Don''t Wear Plaid)》。 此片可说是对40年代的侦探电影致敬的作品，由Steve Martin与导演Carl Reiner共同编写，史蒂夫．马丁饰演一名私家侦探，受命调查一名科学家的死亡真相 ，但是在调查的过程中，他遇上了一大群稀奇古怪的嫌疑犯…… 为了与那些经典老片中的影像片段剪接在一起，全片采黑白两色拍摄，如此片中新旧两代的演员，才能天衣无缝的连接在一起。影片利用巧妙的剪接和导演技巧，把好莱坞大明星集体搬上银幕，加以戏谑逗笑，对影迷而言实在是一种无上的娱乐。《刺鸟》女主角雷切尔·沃德，在片中扮演一名性感的客户。

绫野刚,村上虹郎,前田敦子,片冈礼子,神野三铃,康巢恩,风吹淳,小林薰,柄本明从小跟从父亲学习剑道的矢田部，在一次训练过程中致父亲重伤不治，从此意志消沉，沉迷酒色。极具天赋的高中生羽田机缘巧合跟随僧侣剑道大师光邑习武，并受其所托将一封信转交给矢田部。矢田部借机大闹剑道部，包括羽田在内的学员集体溃败。矢田部无法面对已变成植物人的父亲，整日沉溺在童年阴影和错杀父亲的愧疚中。一个雷雨交加的夜里，羽田在矢田部的必经之路上向他发起挑战，并坦言自己曾经因为溺水而留下心理阴影，希望能和内心同样痛苦的前辈一较高下，矢田部恍惚中重伤羽田。矢田部的父亲病逝，葬礼上矢田部仪态尽失，在光邑大师的安抚下，读了父亲写给大师的一封信，其中声明自己在丧妻之后一蹶不振，和儿子之间已生罅隙，自己一心求死，想命丧儿子剑下，但希望光邑培养儿子成材。重整旗鼓的矢田部终于将要迎来和羽田一场正式的比赛。 影片改编自芥川赏作家藤泽周同名小说。
