第一章 联合舰队司令长官:山本五十六

  1940年9月,德、意、日三国成立同盟。山本五十六被任命为日本联合舰队总司令,并不得不“违背自己的意愿”,接受命令对美、英、荷等国开战。1941后12月8日零时,山本五十六亲自下达了“1280”密码命令,并亲自率领部队偷袭美国珍珠港,从而对美军太平洋舰队造成重创,大胜而归。随后山本五十六建议与美国讲和,但意见未被采纳。在指挥中途岛战役时,由于战略上的重大失误,日本海军遭受惨重损失。形势陡然逆转,美军攻势如虹,日军兵败如山倒。瓜达康纳岛上有三万多名日本陆军,他们遭到了美军飞机的昼夜轰炸,陷于绝境。山本五十六派出舰队炮击美军基地,协助尚存的陆军安全撤退。1943年4月18日,山本五十六为了鼓动前线部队的士气,乘坐一架轰炸机到前线视察。没想到日军的密码被美军窃取,美军派出空军机队将山本五十六的座机击落,一代军人山本五十六就此碎尸于太平洋上空。

第二章 麻雀女王追男仔

龍家村村長龍卷峰(許紹雄飾)育有三女一子,分別名叫龍小東(高海寧飾)龍小南(陳靜飾)龍小茜(郭佩文飾)和龍小北(文佐匡飾)   大家姐小東是連續五年晉身最佳業績的百萬元桌級經理。外表事業女王的小東卻是一個「天生麻將狂」,更偏偏戀上科學家男友馬壯(馬國明飾)馬壯對小東情深一往,只是他一世人最憎人打麻雀,為了不讓愛郎失望,小東竭力隱瞞自己是麻雀狂的真相   二妹小南攻讀戲劇,畢業後當不了演員,卻在片場擔任「親密指導員」,遇上了躁狂影帝千紅哥(陳家樂飾),二人對戲劇追求南轅北轍,但兩個火星撞地球的人偏偏在相處過程由歡喜冤家變成擦出愛火花。   三妹小茜一天竟被小北老闆,胸圍廠太子爺林雨雲(李尚正鉓)落力追求,以為大團圓結局之際誰知真相峰廻路轉,小茜和雨雲相愛背後,其實也暗藏一個驚天秘密。   三對男女,情場上各有各精彩,如何收科?

第三章 复仇的暗夜

杰弗里和莎拉是一对通奸的夫妇,他们谋杀的合法妻子索菲亚的尸体从太平间神秘消失后,他们拼命地寻找不在场证明。警探阿里亚·普拉达纳竭尽全力,试图揭开真相。尸体复活是为了向凶手复仇吗?

第四章 等待方舟

  Set in an underground dungeon inhabited by bundled, ragged human beings, after the nuclear holocaust. The story follows the wanderings of a hero through the situations of survival. People wait for the Ark to arrive and rescue them while their habitat falls apart.  Delving deep into the dusty and long abandonded vaults of b-cinema in search of lost gems always leaves me with a bittersweet taste. On one hand the discovery of unexpected gems where no one would think them possible is a rewarding experience. On the other hand though it makes one wonder how many of these remarkable low-budget oddities, personal love affairs of directors never quite famous and now all but forgotten, have almost forever slipped from memory?  n any case what we have here is a little post-apocalyptic gem from Poland that is really better than it has any right to. The dystopian near future of O-BI, O-BA finds a group of survivors of the nuclear war that ravaged the Earth inhabiting an underworld concrete bunker and biding their time as they wait for the mysterious Ark, an air ship of some kind that will come and save them. The Ark proves to be an elaborate hoax, carefully designed to give hope to the malnourished and desperate denizens of the bunker, while in the meantime the dome that separates their miserable existence from the nuclear winter outside is slowly caving in.  What first striked me about the movie is the design of the bunker and the depiction of the survivors. The survivors are gaunt, filthy and terrible-looking penitents, dressed in rags and aimlessly wandering the neon-lit halls of the bunker like automatons. The bunker is a rundown, seedy place, with bright neon lights peering from all sides like the eyes of malignant beasts.  On one hand it is a slightly 80's depiction of the dystopian future but the movie never stoops down to MAD MAX cheese. Instead it combines biting political satire with the bleak outlook of a world with no future, black comedy with barbs on apathy, religion and power. The survivors, for example, are fed some kind of flour dropping from a tube that hovers in the air - later on we discover the food supervisor uses books and the Bible itself as filler for this meagre meal. There are many such short symbolic touches, perhaps not life-changing or faith-restoring, yet playful, clever and inspired.  One thing is for sure; O-BI, O-BA is not your run-of-the-mill sci-fi schlock. It overcomes its modest budget with creativity and has genuine artistic aspirations both from a writing and directing perspective. My opinion is that it should have been filmed in black and white instead of colour though. The director uses atmospheric light and shadow to great effect and it would have registered even better in stark black and white. The blue-green neon on the other hand outstays its welcome after a while. Just a minor gripe in an otherwise solid b-movie with its heart set in all the right places.  Imagine a less bleak THE ROAD (Cormac McCarthy) being injected with the satire and humour of DR.STRANGELOVE and you're getting there. See it if you can find it.
